Sona Mohapatra and TV actor Nakuul Mehta get into Twitter spat over Kabir Singh
Nakuul Mehta's comment on Kabir Singh didn't go well with Sona Mohapatra.
Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh had hit the screens on June 21 and the movie is getting mixed responses. While some are raving the movie, there are some who are bashing it for the misogynist portrayal of the lead character Kabir Singh. TV actor Nakuul Mehta seemed to have watched the movie and he is all praise for it. He tweeted saying that it is a brilliant portrayal. This tweet of him didn’t go well with singer Sona Mohapatra and she bashed Nakuul for his tweet.
Here’s Nakuul’s tweet.
There are 99 problems but @shahidkapoor ain’t one. Leaving the politics of the film aside, it’s a brilliant portrayal. In every frame and owned each of ’em. ?#KabirSingh

Sona tweeted back asking Nakuul as “how can we keep such deeply disturbing, dark & dangerous politics ‘aside’?”

& how can we keep such deeply disturbing , dark & dangerous politics ‘aside’? Does the actor have no responsibility for choosing to play a part in a narrative that can set us back as a society? Is that all we have become? Creatures of ambition? #LetsTalk #India #KabirSingh https://t.co/UxUbWdOpAF

Nakuul replied back to Sona with his tweets.
Sure we must! Exactly the conversation which ensued post watching the film. It’s something I ask myself too having done a fairly popular role which in parts did succumb to the narrative of patriarchy & machismo but eventually redeemed himself.

A dialogue is a must. We must question it, discuss it.
As an artist, must I judje the character I play? Maybe not.
As a thinking individual? Yes.
Can we seperate the performance from the performer?Tough questions we must ask ourselves, given the times we are in.
