A portion of Hyderabad’s historic Charminar’s minaret falls off
On Wednesday night, a portion of Hyderabad's iconic Charminar fell down but no injuries caused as reported by the police.
On Wednesday night, a portion of the historic monument Charminar fell off. It was a portion of the stucco work in the monument. The damage happened at around 11:30 pm on the Laad Bazaar side of the monument. As per reports by news agency ANI, till now no reports have come up of any casualties but there are cracks and patches in the monument.
The reason behind the incident is not known yet. A team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will visit the monument today to inquire about the cause of the damage. Here’s the tweet by ANI.

ACP G Naganna of traffic Charminar said, “A part of the newly-renovated minaret carving has fallen, we have informed the ASI authorities.” The ASI has started the work of renovation.
This is not the first time a part of a monument fell off. Earlier in August 2001, a large chunk of lime plaster had fallen from the 500-year-old Qutub Shahi monument, due to pollution and movement of large vehicles around the monument. This information is given by heritage activist said Mohammed Safiullah.
