Shah Rukh Khan’s Netflix Original Starring Bobby Deol To Be Titled Class of 83
Shah Rukh Khan's Netflix original Starring Bobby Deol gets a title, to be named Class of 83
As Shah Rukh Khan had earlier announced his digital project with Bobby Deol, the film has finally got its title. Yes, Shah Rukh’s Netflix original has been named Class of 83. The last production venture of SRK was Badla, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, which fared well at the box office window.
Following Zero’s debacle, Shah Rukh Khan seems to have turned a full time producer. According to reports, he has several interesting projects for the biggest video streaming platform, Netflix. The title of his first Netflix original might be similar to Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film 83 but the story is completely different. Reports suggest that Class of 83 will be based on a reunion in 1983.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, “Shah Rukh Khan and Bobby Deol have shared a great friendship since quite some time now. Bobby is keen on trying out something new and Shah Rukh Khan has always been interested in exploring the web platform further. Having them collaborate for Class of ’83 is definitely something to look out for.”
The report adds, “The Netflix film is currently under the initial stages. The casting is just being finalized. The process has just kick started. So it is too soon to comment on the same.”
Apart from Class of 83, Dear Zindagi actor is also producing a Netflix series Bard of Blood for Netflix which has Emraan Hashmi in the lead role.
SRK told Economi Times in an interview last year, “It gives an opportunity to a lot of youngsters who didn’t know where to take their small films. So my deal with Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and chief content officer Ted Sarandos is not just on paper. I’ll try and make stuff for you for which I can’t find a theatre and I am non-self-obsessed to know that certain films don’t need to be in the theatre. Theatres will also change. It will perhaps be more like Broadway where movies will play for six months.”
