Earlier, in the day, Kamal Nath was sworn in as its 18th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He helped Congress to end 15 years of BJP rule in the state which had become the BJPs stronghold. Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Kamal Nath in the presence of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and others.
It is to be noted that Congress had promised farmers loan waiver within 10 days of forming the government as part of its Manifesto.
The result of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election was declared on December 11, and after a marathon process of counting of votes, the Congress emerged as the single largest party with 114 seats in the 230-member MP Assembly.
