‘Teflon-coated’ liberals are a challenge to the country: Ram Madhav

Ram Madhav, the BJP general secretary, said that the Indian judiciary is going through tough times and at the same took a dig at the opposition saying that the “teflon-coated” liberals are a challenge for the country.

Accusing the ‘intellectuals’ and the NGOs, Ram Madhav said that “teflon-coated” liberals even wanted to separate south India from the country.

“This challenge comes from outside. It largely comes from the teflon-coated liberals. They are teflon-coated, so they are fashionable. They know how to use the systemic loopholes. They know how to subvert the system including the judiciary. They have friends in institutions. Friends this group includes some intellectuals and NGOs,” Ram Madhav said.

The BJP leader also took a dig at the Congress for raking up the Rafale issue and calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name. “Those who themselves were thieves want to portray everybody as thief,” he said.

The BJP general secretary was delivering a speech at the Thinkers’ Forum-organised first Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial lecture. Ram Madhav also raked up the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi and said the judiciary delayed the justice.

According to Ram Madhav, in the Ram Janmabhoomi issue, the top court had to take a call on the judgement of Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench which passed the order of trifurcation of the disputed land. He said that the court ordered 14000 pages which were written in Persian, Urdu and Hindu to be translated to English.

“This case is only about the trifurcation of that place. It’s only limited to whether trifurcation is allowed or not. But the Supreme Court wanted to decide first whether mosque is an integral part of Islam or not. Luckily, the judges found out in August 2018 that mosque is not an integral part of Islam,” the BJP general secretary said.

The court, however, decided to hear the matter from October 29, the Chief Justice clearly said that it was not a priority for them. “When the Supreme Court said it is not a priority then the protagonists felt that they have to prove that it is a priority. So you see a mass mobilisation happened across the country by the temple protagonists because such an important issue is dismissed as not a priority,” Ram Madhav rounded off.
