Noida: Boy killed in celebratory firing at wedding, groom among accused
In Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, a 14-year-old boy was killed during celebratory firing at a wedding function, police said on Thursday. Apparently, the incident took place on Wednesday night at Ghodi Bacheda village in Jarcha area.
While celebrating the occasion, someone from the groom’s side opened fire in the air and a bullet hit the boy identified as Gaurav, who died on the spot, according to the police.
Father of the deceased, Jagdish has filed a complaint with the police, naming four persons including the groom, for being responsible for the death of his son.
Police official Ramsen Singh said, “A complaint has been filed and we are gathering video and other evidences based on which action will be taken.”
Meanwhile, in another such stray incident, a 47-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a celebratory gunshot fired during a wedding procession that she was watching in Surat in the early hours today, police said.
The deceased identified as Savitriben Vadgujar, was declared brought dead at a government hospital where she was rushed after the incident that happened in Varachha area of Surat, a police official said.
The police official further added, “The incident took place between 12.30 am and 1 am when the woman was standing at the balcony on the first floor of the building where she lived. She was watching the marriage procession passing by when some unidentified persons, who were part of the procession fired in celebration.”
