Kolkata: Indigo flight makes emergency landing, passengers evacuated
An Indigo flight en route to Jaipur from Kolkata made an emergency landing in Kolkata itself on Monday after smoke was detected in the aircraft cockpit and cabin, reported news agency ANI.
According to reports, 136 passengers on board, who had been evacuated with the help of inflatable slides. A video of the incident which is doing the rounds on social media shows that thick smoke in the cabin of 6E-237, a new jetliner, as it approached its destination.

Another video shows that some passengers evacuating the aircraft on an escape chute once it landed safely.

Confirming the incident, Indigo has issued a statement saying that there was “suspected smoke in (the) cabin,” something contradicted by the video which clearly shows the presence of smoke.
