Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima accused of plagiarising Mikimoto jewellery design

Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, is a jewelry designer and has her own brand “R” Jewelry, the stunner recently released a special holiday collection for the brand that featured peal and diamond pieces. One of the pieces is a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that landed her in trouble.

Diet Sabya an anonymous Instagram account exposed the earrings as a direct copy of a Mikimoto pair. They showcased two photos side by side and we can see that the designs are quite similar.

The legendary Kokichi Mikimoto is known in the pearl world as the ‘King of Pearls’. His ‘cultured pearls’ —patented in 1916 — is a benchmark for the industry at large. So, naturally ‘Jewellery designer of the year’, @riddhimakapoorsahniofficial couldn’t help herself from selling the iconic Mikimoto pearl and diamond earrings under her namesake label. Soon Riddima was accused of plagiarising Mikimoto jewellery design,

Sahni has taken down her original photo and has issued a clarification saying, “We at Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Jewellery, do not encourage plagiarism! We are extremely sorry for not tagging the original designer for an inspirational post of the diamond and pearl earrings by Mikimoto Kokichi- a legend with pearls! We respect the creativity of every designer and would never copy and disregard any of them. Thank you.
