Eid Milad: PM Modi, Amitabh Bachchan and several other celebrities wished the nation on 12 Rabee-Ul-Awwal, Birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammed.

Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi is being celebrated across the country on November 21, which is a birthday anniversary of prophet Muhammed. According to Islamic preachers, the prophet Muhammed was born on 12 Rabee-ul-Awwal in Mecca in 570 CE. Rabee-ul-Awwal is the third month of Islamic lunar calendar.

In 2018, Eid-Milad started from the night of 20 November and will end today’s night. On the auspicious occasion, there are several popular personalities who greeted the nation. Among those, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, Karnataka Chief Minister, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and several others.

Greeting the nation on the occasion of Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi, Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wrote: “We remember the noble teachings of the venerable Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and pray that there is harmony, brotherhood and peace all around.”

President of India Ram Nath Kovind greeted across the world and wrote: “On the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the Prophet’s birthday, good wishes to all fellow citizens, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters in India and abroad.”

Wishing Eid-Milad, vice president of India Venkaiah Naidu took to Twitter and wished the nation and abroad. He wrote: “I convey my warm greetings and best wishes to the people of our country on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi/Eid-E-Milad – celebrated as the Birthday of Prophet Mohammad. Prophet Mohammad showed humanity the righteous path of compassion and universal brotherhood.”

Mumbai Congress Party also extended its greeting on Eid-Milad writing:

What does Muslims do on Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi?

On the day of Eid-Milad, Muslims hold prayers and Islamic preachers talk about prophet Muhammed’s lifestyle and there are people who also observe fast on this day. However, the day is marked differently by the Shia and Sunni. The Shia community believes that Prophet Muhammad had chosen Hazrat Ali as his successor on this day. On the other hand, the Sunni community, on this day, hold prayers and take out processions throughout the day.

There are several countries across the world who decorate their homes on this auspicious day and recite Quran and distribute sweets among the needy.  This day is considered one of the holiest days for Muslims all across the globe because it reminds one of the kindness, compassion and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammed.
