In today’s hearing on the CBI vs CBI case, the Supreme Court has adjourned crucial hearing on CBI’s Alok Verma to 29 November after CJI expressed agitation over leakage of confidential information.

The CJI said, “We are not hearing today. We don’t think any of you deserve a hearing.”

The apex court was hearing the matter against exiled CBI Director Alok Verma who has filed a reply pertaining to bribery allegations against him. While responding to CVC’s preliminary probe report, Verma filed his reply in a sealed cover on Monday, 19 November.

Alok Verma was directed to reply ‘as quickly as possible’ by a bench headed by CJI Gogoi as the scheduled Tuesday hearing on his plea would not be deferred.

The exiled CBI Director had earlier filed a plea challenging the government’s order divesting him of his duties and sending him on forced leave in view of allegations of corruption against him.

On Monday during the hearing, the CBI feud turnedmurkier, after a senior officer M K Sinha dragged the names of NSA Ajit Doval, Union minister Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary and CVC K V Chowdhury over alleged attempts to interfere in the probe against CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana, who has been divested too, of his duties and sent on leave along with his boss.
