Chhattisgarh: Naxals detonate bus carrying BSF jawans; 6 troopers injured
Naxals on Wednesday morning targeted a bus carrying Border Security Force (BSF) personnel returning from poll duty in Bijapur, around four kilometres away from the district headquarters at Mahadev Ghat.
In an incident, at least six BSF jawans were injured and have been rushed to a local hospital. Exchange of fire between BSF jawans and Naxals is currently underway. According to preliminary reports, Maoists detonated an IED before opening fire at personnel.
The news agency ANI quoted DIG-Anti-Naxal Ops P Sundarraj saying, “4 BSF jawans, one DRG and one civilian injured in IED blast in Bijapur Ghatti (7 kms from Bijapur). All injured have been admitted to a hospital in Bijapur. Exchange of fire underway b/w security forces&naxals,situation under control.”

The incident comes a week before the second phase of voting in the Chhattisgarh elections on November 20.
