Public, private sector banks to remain close for 4 days this week
If you are running low on cash or need large sums of money after Diwali, visit your branch immediately as the banks will be closed for at least 4 days this week.
Notably, the banks will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday i.e on November 7th and 8th due to Diwali festival. Also, the banks will remain shut on Saturday and Sunday i.e on November 10th and 11th. As the coming Saturday is the second Saturday of the month, banks will be closed for the same reason.
Though Friday is a working day, minimal staff in banks and long queues will be present. However, according to officials, banks will try to ensure that ATMs remain operational during these holidays.
Meanwhile, an official from nationalised bank said, “It is advisable to stock up adequate cash as with long holidays during Diwali days, ATMs often run dry and banks are closed for sending a replenishment.”
It is to be noted that since September 2015, all banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
