Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva reckons winning Premier League will be harder this year
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva feels that it would be tougher to win the Premier League this year than the last term where they had clinched the title in a record-breaking fashion.
The Manchester club finished 19 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. This season, they haven’t yet been the invincible side they were last term but nonetheless are one of the strongest candidates to retain the trophy.
A 1-0 win over Tottenham lifted them to the top of the table as they toppled Liverpool, bettering them on goal difference. The win against Spurs was their eighth victory this season and they also kept a clean sheet–for the sixth successive time.
Said Silva,” I think it will be harder because last season nobody was expecting us to win as many games and to reach that level of points, so this season the teams know they have to do better to beat us.”

“Of course it will be very hard, but we will work every game to get the three points and at the end of it try and celebrate winning one more Premier League.
“I think either Chelsea and Liverpool are contenders, they are very strong, Arsenal as well.
“Even Tottenham, even though they lost, they’re still contenders,” he added.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already faced the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal in away fixtures and won seven points from these three matches. That they are to face less strong sides would ease their nerves going further into the season.
Silva reckons that the points they secured from these away matches were very important before they host these teams who are also strong title contenders this season.
I think that’s important to win these games, to have a draw away at Anfield, to win at the Emirates and now here at Wembley, it’s important,” he opined.
“But still they have to come to play us at the Etihad, which is a bit better for us.
“It’s still the beginning of the season and anything can happen, we have to keep strong and with the ambition of winning every game and never relax,” the Portuguese further added.
