Jammu and Kashmir: At least six terrorists eliminated in two separate encounters

On Thursday, at least six terrorists were eliminated by security forces in two separate encounters that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla and Anantnag. While two were killed in Baramulla, four killed in Anantnag.

After receiving a specific input about the presence of an unspecified number of terrorists, the troopers of Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly launched a cordon-and-search operation in Athoora village located in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The holed-up terrorists were challenged by the troopers after which an encounter started. Two terrorists were eliminated. However, the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists are yet to be known.

Meanwhile, security forces launched a search operation in Arwani village in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district after learning that some terrorists had taken shelter there. When challenged, the terrorists fired at the security forces, provoking a gun battle in which four terrorists were killed.

One of the killed terrorists was identified as Sahil Makroo of Arwani village while the identity of the other three is being ascertained. Three AK-47 rifles have been recovered from the slain terrorists.

Fortunately, the security forces did not suffer any casualty in the operation.

Earlier, on Wednesday, security forces gunned down at least two terrorists in Nowgam village located on the outskirts of Srinagar. Previously, security forces neutralised three terrorists in the Larro area of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir.
