Raman Singh submitted his nomination papers to the collector and district magistrate Bhim Singh. He touched Adityanath’s feet several times to take his blessing. Speaking to reporters, CM Raman Singh asserted that he had full faith in his party workers and that they would fulfill BJP chief Amit Shah’s target of 65 out of 90 seats in the Assembly.

He further added that they would sweep Rajnandgaon district, where Congress MLAs now hold four seats out of six. CM Raman Singh, in the end, said that any decision on seats is taken with a great deal of planning and thought, and it is unlikely that any names would be changed.

Meanwhile, at a rally, Adityanath attacked the Congress, alleging that they did not want the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. “There is no doubt that a temple will be built at his birthplace soon. The Congress does not want this and has always opposed this,” he said. Adityanath also said that whenever there is a fierce debate in India, or a crisis, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi escapes to Italy.

Notably, Tuesday was the last day for filing of nomination for candidates for the first phase of Chhattisgarh elections, scheduled for November 12. The counting of votes will take place on December 11.
