Watch: Jasprit Bumrah gets nostalgic as a Pakistani kid emulates his bowling action

Jasprit Bumrah has over the years developed into an integral part of the Indian team across formats. Starting as white ball specialist for the men in blue, Bumrah has gone from strength to strength and currently is India’s prime bowler in every format of the game.

Although many cast a doubt over his unconventional style of bowling saying that he won’t last long, the 24-year-old proved everyone wrong with top performances in all formats of the game. In six Test matches, Bumrah has 28 wickets with two five-wicket hauls and has been equally impressive in the shorter formats, where he is considered to be one of the best death bowlers of the modern era.

His rise, despite such unconventional style, has made him an inspirational cricketer and many aspiring cricketers consider him as their idol and follow him.

Most recently, one such incident, where a young kid from Pakistan was trying to emulate Bumrah’s bowling action came to the fore where the kid was in a video seen trying to bowl like Bumrah.

His video was put up by a Pakistani national, who took to social media to share the video and captioned it: “5 Years Old kid from pak is a big fan of You…after watching you in the recently concluded Asia cup every time he tries to bowl like him. Anyway, Happy Birthday @virendersehwag Sir?”

The tweet was made on October 20, which was former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag’s birthday and hence the Pakistani national by the name of Umair Afridi, shared the video while commenting on Bumrah’s birthday wish to Sehwag.

Bumrah was virtually moved by the effort of the kid and got nostalgic. He replied saying, “As a kid, I remember how I used to copy the actions of my cricketing heroes. ?

“It’s a wonderful feeling to see kids copying my action today.? #childhoodflashbacks #Grateful #nostalgia”

Bumrah last played for India at the victorious Asia Cup and is currently enjoying his break from international cricket after being rested for the West Indies series. The selectors have been clear in their views that they want to keep India’s prime bowlers fit for the upcoming Australia Tour and the World Cup in England next year.
