Mumbai: Model’s body found stuffed in suitcase in Malad, one held
The Bangur Nagar police on Monday afternoon found the body of a 20-year-old model named Mansi Dixit in suburban Malad, Mumbai.
After finding the body which was stuffed in a travelling bag, the Bangur Nagar police took a swift action and arrested a 19-year-old fellow student Sayyad Muzammil within 3 hours with the help of CCTV. According to the police, the accused and victim knew each other but the reason for killing is still not known.
“Under Bangur Nagar police station limits, the body of a woman was found inside a suitcase. On the basis of evidence, we have arrested a 19-year-old man who is a resident of Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway,” SP Nishandar, DCP Zone -11 told ANI.
However, preliminary investigations reveal that Muzammil had called Mansi to his flat and within a few minutes of their meeting, the duo had a heated argument. A scuffle followed, after which the accused killed Mansi with a heavy object.
The investigations further reveal that Muzammil then stuffed the dead body in a travel bag and booked an Ola to Mumbai international airport. Midway, he asked the driver to take the back road of Mindspace in Malad West. He got off near Mindspace, after telling the driver he needs to cover the rest of the distance on the rickshaw. The accused then allegedly dumped the bag near a bush and took a rickshaw to return home.
After some time, the Ola driver who happened to drive through the same road spotted the bag. He immediately alerted police. The police team reached the spot and recovered the body and transferred it to the hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered by the police.
Notably, Mansi Dixit had moved from Kota, Rajasthan, to pursue her dream of modelling. She was a student and was involved in other business ventures such as event management and designing. Her office was situated next to the Infinity Mall in Andheri.
