#MeToo: Ekta Kapoor fires Subhash Kapoor from web series
Director Subhash Kapoor, who has been accused of sexual harassment by actress Geetika Tyagi, has just lost out on another project. Notably, Balaji Telefilms chief Ekta Kapoor has apparently ousted Subhash Kapoor from her web series titled The Verdict, which he was part of the creative development team.
Quoting the source, Mid-Day said, “After Ekta came on board as one of the core committee members of the Producers’ Guild that aims to address the issue of sexual harassment at workplace, it was brought to her notice that Subhash has an ongoing case against him. Ekta immediately decided to remove him from the show.”
“Subhash was integral to the system, but she has decided to support the survivor. Till the criminal proceedings on Subhash continue, Balaji won’t work with him,” said the source. The source further added that it’s a bold move on Ekta’s part, especially since the show – based on the Nanavati case – is one of the biggest productions to come out of her stable.
Earlier, Gulshan Kumar too announced Subhash’s ouster from Mogul. He said, “With the on-going proceedings against the director, everyone at T-Series has decided to not work with him.”
Several other film personalities such as directors Vikas Bahl and Rajat Kapoor, singer Kailash Kher and actor Alok Nath have been named in a wave of sexual misconduct allegations, spurred on by actor Tanushree Dutta’s claims that she was harassed by Nana Patekar on the sets of a 2008 movie.
