Selectors not pleased with Dhoni captaining India in Asia Cup match: Reports
There seems to be unhappiness in the Indian selection panel over MS Dhoni captaining India in the match against Afghanistan in the recently concluded Asia Cup as per reports.
India had walked into the match with consecutive wins over Bangladesh and Pakistan in the Super Four stage as the management decided to rest stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy Shikhar Dhawan to make way for the other members in the squad who hadn’t got a game then.
It was then seen that former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was back at the helm once again, leading the national side for the 200th time-only the third cricketer to do so.
“The selectors are not pleased that wholesale changes were rung in for the match and both stand-in captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan sat out with MS Dhoni forced to be captain again, out of nowhere,” India Today quoted a BCCI source as saying.
The match nonetheless, didn’t turn out to end in India’s favour as it was a drawn contest at the end with India.
