BJP’s ‘Chinese Gandhi’ jibe at Rahul Gandhi irks Congress

There is an old saying — ‘What goes around, comes around’. In an attempt to take a jibe on Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who left for Nepal to undertake the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, BJP claimed that Gandhi wanted a ceremonial see-off by the Chinese ambassador. Within no time, Congress came back of accusing the BJP ‘insulting the abode of Lord Shiva and  Maa Parvati by such cheap political tactics’.

As the ‘Kailash Mansarovar’ falls in China, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, in his attempt to take a jibe at Rahul, said the Chinese ambassador had sought permission from the Indian government to give Rahul a ceremonial see-off. However, they did not receive any response from the letter. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Friday, Patra said, “You are Rahul Gandhi and not Chinese Gandhi. Why should the Chinese ambassador want to see off a non-Chinese person? There is no such protocol?”

Patra also alleged Rahul is behaving like a ‘Chinese spokesperson’ and highlighting the achievements of China everywhere. He said, “Why he is holding brief for China everywhere as if he is a hired man to advertise China?” Adding on, he asked, “Ye rishta kya kahlata hai? (What is this relationship called)?”

Reacting sharply to the comments of Patra, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala posted on Twitter, “An unnerved PM and a rattled BJP have shown their parochial-hateful mindset by mocking this sacrosant religious journey of Rahulji to Maha Kailash. Calling this auspicious Yatra “honeymoon tourism” by BJP is the vilest attack on Hindu faith and beliefs.”

Adding on he wrote, “It is indeed sad and tragic that BJP is insulting the abode of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati by such cheap political tactics. We pray that Mahadeva shows them the path of enlightenment to cleanse their minds and souls from the vile hatred.”
