Asian Games 2018: women’s 4x400m relay team wins fifth consecutive gold
India claimed its 13th gold at the 18th Asian Games when the women’s 4x400m relay team bagged the top honours finishing the marathon in 3 minutes and 28.72 seconds to win their fifth successive gold in the intercontinental event.
The team comprising of Hima Das, Saritaben Laxmanbhai Gayakwad, Poovamma Raju Machettira and Vismaya Velluva Koroth won the race finishing ahead of Bahrain, who won the silver and Vietnam, who won settled for the silver.

The defending champions put up a dominant show and were way ahead of the other competitors. Hima Das started with the baton for India and her blistering pace was enough to give India the initial boost they needed and they never looked back from there.
It was India’s 13th gold, seven of which have come from athletics. They have also won 20 silver and 25 bronze medals and currently have a total of 58 medals to their name.
Meanwhile, the Indian men’s 4x400m relay team won the silver medal.
