Mumbai: Police informant found dead in Andheri
The crime branch officials of Mumbai police’s unit III’s senior inspector Jagdish Sahil discovered the mysterious murder of a police informant — Avinash Solanki, aka Bali, 40 — in Andheri on Friday. Solanki was his longtime friend and was found in a pool of blood, after being seemingly hit brutally on the head.
Earlier, Solanki spent his time with his brother Dilip and his family at his Oshiwara home, before cancelling dinner with Sahil. Stating the reason that he had to meet another common friend Nilesh Shukla — who had marital problems — Solanki cancelled his meeting. When Sahil couldn’t contact Solanki after 7 pm, he contacted Dilip, who confirmed that he was also unable to reach Solanki.
Suspecting something mysterious, he called Shukla who had then left for Madhya Pradesh. Sahil then reached to Shukla’s office in Ravindra Impex office in Apollo Industrial Area in MIDC and found the lights and air conditioner were on. He broke into the office and found Avinash’s lifeless body.
Sahil registered a murder case against unknown persons with the MIDC police immediately, reports Mid-Day. Though the weapon with which Solanki was hit couldn’t be traced, four glasses show the presence of four people in the vicinity. Police reports doubt Shukla to be the prime suspect in the case and his phone remains switched off. Police are unaware of his whereabouts.
Sources in the police department say that three people are involved in the murder — Shukla, his driver Jagga and a bodyguard. Police also doubt that the trio might have reached Uttarakhand and might escape to Nepal. Police are trying to nab the culprits, reports Mid-Day.
