Instagram Hack: The social platform is investigating hundreds of affected accounts

Social media apps are always prone to be compromised, with hackers lurking around the internet it has become quite easy to hack into someone’s account.

Recently TRAI Chairman Ram Sewak Sharma’s details were hacked and his Aadhaar card details were leaked online.

Adding to the list is Instagram, the social media app which is very popular among youths. Recently, many users complained that they are not able to access there Instagram account.

According to a report by Mashable, in just the past few days, hundreds of Instagram accounts were hacked, making it difficult for users to access their accounts and in some cases, people entirely lost the access.

Instagram has now released a blog post, acknowledging the situation and saying that it is investigating the issue. “We are aware that some people are having difficulty accessing their Instagram accounts.”

“Our current two-factor authentication allows people to secure their account via text, and we’re working on additional two-factor functionality with more to share soon,” the blog post reads.

Adding to that, Instagram has released a list of Do’s and Dont’s that you must follow, regardless of being affected by the problem or not.

Instagram has sent emails to users requesting them to change the registered email address, the company wants you to click the link marked ‘revert this change’ in the email. The user is also asked to pick a strong password.

In case you are facing the same issue during login, you have to restore your account with a new email address.
Instagram has urged all users in its platform to enable two-factor authentication on their accounts.

Last month, the social media platform also promised to improve its 2FA process by adopting a non-SMS one, to bypass SIM hackers.

It is unclear who hacked these accounts and how many accounts have been compromised.
