England vs India: I am determined to get Virat Kohli’s wicket in Lord’s Test – James Anderson
The rivalry between Indian captain Virat Kohli and England’s prime pace-bowler James Anderson have been a riveting contest in the ongoing Test series.

While Anderson made Kohli his bunny four years ago, getting him out four times in five matches, the Indian skipper prevailed this time around hitting a brilliant 149 and 51 in the opening Test at Edgbaston/ The world’s top Test bowler, however, feels that he could have got Kohli out had his teammates drop two sitters in the slips.
“I guess that’s top-of-the-range stuff and I certainly loved the battle with him (Virat Kohli) at Edgbaston. I felt good bowling to Virat and my plans worked well. I might have dismissed him a few times with some plays and misses plus a dropped catch,” wrote Anderson in his column for the Sun.
“But the fact is, I didn’t get him out and he scored a century and a half-century. So I’m not getting carried away! In fact, it makes me even more determined to be on top form in the Second Test at Lord,” added the 36-year-old.
He also mentioned that he will look to try something different at the Lord’s Test to keep Kohli in check.
“I’ll look at some videos to see if I can do anything different. But, generally, I think all our bowlers were good against Kohli. Before he went into one-day mode while batting with the tail, we kept him in check. And we were successful against the other Indian batsman,” said the England pacer who conceded just 17 runs in the first innings to Kohli.
The Indian captain could manage just one boundary off Anderson’s bowling which came after the ball had nicked past his bat and the wicket-keeper into the boundary. Few overs later Kohli edged again a bit this time it was straight to Dawid Malan at second slip, who dropped a sitter.

Anderson also said that despite the intense competition there remain huge respects between him and Kohli. “The game was played in a good spirit and there’s a lot of respect both ways between myself and Virat. There was the odd smile when I bowled a good ball and the odd smile from him.”
“I gave him a couple of freebies on his legs that he clipped for four and he said something like ‘That’s not like you, giving me freebies!’ It was teasing, really, leg-pulling. All in good spirit,” he added.
India trail England 0-1 in the five-match Test series and meet them in the second Test at Lord’s on Thursday.
