Harmanpreet Kaur withdrawn as DSP; may lose job, Arjuna
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had offered the Deputy Superintendent post to Harmanpreet Kaur in July last year, post her fabulous performance in the Women’s World Cup 2017. Unfortunately, the hard hitting Indian batter was withdrawn from the Deputy Superintendent of Police rank after her graduation certificate was confirmed to be fake.
Harmanpreet was serving in the Indian Railways and was relieved from her duties in March after she put a request to join Punjab police. Punjab chief minister had taken up the matter with the Railway Ministry to waive off the bond condition and allow Harmanpreet to join as a DSP in Punjab.

After her degree been declared as fake, she still can be retained as a constable at Punjab police and if they happen to file an FIR against the Indian middle order batter, her Arjuna award will also be at risk.
“The state government has written to Harmanpreet that since now her qualification can only be treated as Class XII, she can at best be retained by the Punjab police as a constable. She told us that her coach got her admission in the university, saying it was flexible about exams. She has told us she was given the degree but had no inkling that it was fake. The CM has almost decided that we appoint her as constable, a post matching with her educational qualification of senior secondary and elevate her as DSP as and when she fulfills her educational requirement,” said a senior functionary of the Punjab government.
It had turned out be an embarrassment for the state government after the police department sent her degree for verification to the Meerut university and found that it was fake. It was the Chief Minister himself who had offered her a job in the police in July 2017.
