Delhi: Maulana arrested for raping eight-year-old girl in Madrasa

Another case of rape has emerged from Delhi. An eight-year-old girl was raped by a Maulana in Madrasa in Narail area of the state.

Accused Maulana has been arrested by the police. He has been identified as Zakir Alam.

According to the police, the Maulana had discharged all children from the madrasa at around 7:00 pm on Saturday evening but kept the victim tied to him.

He then raped the girl in the Madrasa. Alam threatened her to not tell anyone about it. The girl too got scared to the length that she did not tell anyone for the initial two days. On the third day, when her conditioned worsened, she was taken to the hospital.

She was then taken to BR Ambedkar hospital where the doctors confirmed the rape.

The girl is currently undergoing treatment. A doctor said that although the girl was traumatised, her condition is stable.

After the assault was confirmed, the girl’s guardian asked about the incident. The parents then informed the police. After getting the information of the incident, police arrested the Madrasa on late Tuesday night.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and sexual assault, the police said, adding that a probe is underway.
