PM Modi goes digital, inaugurates Mundka-Bahadurgarh Metro corridor via video conferencing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a mission to promote his Digital India campaign. Using the technology, the Premier inaugurated the new Metro line between Mundka and Bahadurgarh through a remote control via video conferencing on Sunday. With this, Bahadurgarh has become third city in Haryana after Gurugram and Faridabad to have DMRC services.

Congratulating the people, Modi said with this new stretch of the Metro services, a direct link between connectivity and development will open for the people of Bahadurgarh. Adding that service will generate more employment opportunities for the local people.

Calling Bahadurgarh a ‘Gateway to Haryana’, he stated that this place is emerging as a education hub and an aspiring economic corridor. Modi added that the new service will help in bring convenience to this part of the state too. He said, “Bahadurgarh is witnessing tremendous economic growth, there are several educational centres there, students from there even travel to Delhi. The Metro will bring convenience to this part, which is considered the gateway to Haryana.”

Though the video call, Modi stated the fact that results have shown how Delhi Metro have brought positive impacts in the lives of citizens. Stating the priority of Union government, he stressed on to build convenient, comfortable and affordable urban transport systems in the cities.

Boasting the success of the Make in India scheme, the Prime Minister stated that earlier several nations helped India in making Metro coaches, but now our country is helping other by designing coaches for their Metro systems.

Linking the making of Metro system to cooperative federalism Modi said, “Wherever Metros are being built in India, the Centre and the respective state Governments are working together.” Speaking about ‘New India’ requirements, the Premier was of the view that nation requires new and smart infrastructure.

He said, “New India requires new and smart infrastructure. We have worked on roads, railways, highways, airways, waterways and i-ways. There is unparalleled focus on connectivity and ensuring development projects are completed on time.”

Earlier metro officials have stated that the new elevated station under will ‘not only connect the capital city with Bahadurgarh, but also provide connectivity to many suburban areas of Mundka, Ghevra and Tikri Kalan’. With seven stations, four in Delhi – Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan and Tikri Border; and three in Haryana – Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park; the Mundka – Bahadurgarh stretch will be an extension of the existing Green Line from Inderlok to Mundka.
