Manoj Bajpayee‘s much-awaited series The Family Man has been hit by controversies days before its release. Samantha Akkineni will be seen playing a suicide bomber in the series. Protests erupted as the news become public. People from Tamil Nadu began calling for a ban on the show since it hurt the sentiments of the Eelam Tamils.
Tamil Nadu Minister Manoj Thangaraj, wrote to Prakash Javedkar to ban the screening on Amazon Prime Video. He added that the show allegedly depicts Tamilians as terrorists.
As the protests continue, Amazon Prime Video has issued a gag order to Samantha Akkineni. They have barred her from speaking about the show.
As reported by sources to Bollywood Hungama, “There are always protests to certain characters or portrayals in films or series. In the case of Samantha’s character in The Family Man 2, people have taken an objection to her character. But they have not really seen what she portrays. Amazon Prime Video would like to avoid controversies prior to the release of its venture. The gag order to refrain from speaking about the show is exactly that, so the audience feeling and sentiments that have been hurt can be assuaged.”
Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK the directors of Family Man said that before making assumptions about the characters in it. People should watch the series when it releases.
The Family Man season 2 starring Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni is all set for June 4 release.
