Delhi: 79-year-old man arrested for raping minor after tempting her with chocolate

A 79-year-old man was arrested in Delhi for the alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl after luring her with chocolate, said the police on Monday. The incident took place when the minor girl was playing outside her house on Saturday, said a report from news agency PTI.

It also stated that the accused after committing the heinous crime threatened the victim of dire consequences if she reported the incident to anyone. The girl first narrated her ordeal to her parents, who then took her to the police station, said a police officer, reports the agency.

A case, based on the complaint made by the victim’s parents, was registered under the sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) added the officer. The police are also probing if the accused had raped the girl on multiple occasions.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident elsewhere in Delhi, a government school girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men, led by the son of her landlord. The main accused, which is the son, is believed to have lured the girl with an offer to buy her pizza.
