70-year-old’s body found in 7th-floor duct in Chandivli Mumbai
A 70-year-old Lady’s body was found stuck within the duct of a 20-storey upscale tower in Chandivli on Saturday. The police said Laxmi Rout can have fallen off the 15th floor of Maple Leaf’s G Wing at Raheja Vihar, the place she stayed at the 17th floor together with her husband Dukhiya, son Krishnachand, daughter-in-law Rupali and a grandchild. No suicide note was found.
“The frame was stuck within the duct at the seventh floor,” said deputy commissioner of police (zone X) Navinchandra Reddy. The circle of relatives learnt about Laxmi’s dying when the assistance of a circle of relatives dwelling at the seventh-floor informed them.
The family suspects suicide and said Laxmi was underneath treatment for high blood pressure and arthritis.
The police said a case of accidental death has been registered. Though the circle of relatives has no longer lodged any complaint, the police are probing whether or not it was a fall or a suicide.
The tragic event took place between 10 am and 10.30am when the family was getting ready to go to Jagannath temple in Sakinaka and Dukhiya unexpectedly found Laxmi lacking from the house. Krishnachand (42), a banker, said, “At 9 am, my father noticed my mom after she took a tub. But around 10 am, he could no longer to find her in the house. Minutes later, a home help rang our doorbell and informed us that my mom was found within the duct on the seventh floor in another wing.”

An office-bearer of the housing society said, “The circle of relatives came to grasp most effective when we heard a loud sound and found the frame. We have no idea whether or not the water pipeline got damaged after she fell off. Fire brigade staff got rid of the frame and the society is cooperating with the police.”
Rupali advised TOI: “We are but to achieve clarity on what actually took place. My husband has gone to the clinic. We sought after to move for Rath Yatra at the Saki Naka temple. I was feeding my son and my partner’s father had just finished his prayers when a home help from the seventh floor of another wing advised me that my spouse’s mother was stuck within the duct.” She said the duct the place Laxmi’s frame was found was with regards to the steps close to their area.
A neighbour said, “Laxmi was very hot. She was looking ahead to her elder son and daughter to come back from their native the city in Odisha. I met her the previous day and she or he said she was actually glad and excited to see them and her grandchildren.”
Inspector Bharat Deshmukh said, “She might have jumped from the next floor as there are blood stains at the edge of the 15th floor and her frame was found stuck at the 7th floor. The fireplace brigade got rid of the frame and despatched it to Rajawadi clinic. She had suffered more than one head accidents due to the fall. There was communicate of foul play, however, there is not any such complaint from her circle of relatives.”
