Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s 1995 starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge marks the completion of 25 years and it is still one of the most loved films across the globe. Produced under the Yash Raj Films banner and directed by Aditya Chopra, the film broke many records and went on to become a classic.
DDJJ has been one of the longest-running films with daily shows at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir, in India. With this, DDLJ will join the installations of other famous films including Laurel and Hardy, Wonder Woman, and Harry Potter amongst others.
To mark the 25th anniversary, a bronze statue of the lead actors SRK and Kajol as Raj and Simran will be unveiled in London next year. This will be the first-ever Bollywood film statue to be put up in the United Kingdom (UK). Sharing the details, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “UPDATE… Bronze statue of #SRK and #Kajol to be unveiled at #London’s #LeicesterSquare to mark 25th anniversary of #DDLJ… Will be unveiled in Spring 2021… The first ever #Bollywood movie statue erected in #UK… #DDLJ is directed by #AdityaChopra.”

Talking about the same, Mark Williams, the destination marketing director of Heart of London Business Alliance spoke to Mid-Day, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of the most successful Hindi films of all time, and this statue is a fitting tribute to the global popularity of Bollywood.”
