21-year-old woman hangs self during live video chat
In New Delhi’s New Usmanpur area, a 21-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide during a live video chat with her boyfriend, police said. An argument with the deceased’s boyfriend allegedly led to her suicide. The deceased has been identified as Shivani Sharma who was supposedly preparing to be a company secretary.
During the video conversation, the deceased got into a heated argument with him which allegedly escalated to the extent of the girl hanging herself from the ceiling fan using her dupatta.
“While Shivani was taking the extreme step, her friend called up her father — who has a shop on the ground floor of the house. He ran upstairs but by the time he reached her room, Shivani had hanged herself,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Thakur said.
The woman was then taken to St Stephen’s hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
“We have recovered a mobile phone and a dupatta from the room and sent it to the forensic lab. An FIR has been registered against the victim’s friend under relevant IPC section for abetment of suicide. The matter is under investigation,” Thakur added.
Previously on July 19, Munna Kumar a young man living in Agra killed himself while he was live on Facebook. His friends watching this tried to stop him, but Munna did not respond. According to reports, Munna was trying to join the Indian Army since he was 17 but had not been successful after many tries, he was worried about exceeding the age limit.The 24-year-old was a BSc graduate. He got depressed by the outcome and decided to end his life. 2750 people watched the live stream.
